Video: What is your favorite children's movie?
Submitted by I-Luv-Eeyore.
There are many others. I've seen Labyrinth mentioned (I still recall the major crush I had on Jennifer Connelly and watched so much by the family, the tape popped, I think), along with The Dark Crystal (which I never saw until adulthood), but here are some of my favorites:
Audio: Show us your favorite movie soundtrack.
Submitted by miyagawa.Wow, I can't even answer that correctly. 90% of my music library is made of up soundtracks. Normally, I would have went with anything John Williams, but there are so many other songs out there worth listening to.
Ravenous, from the team that created the bands Blur and The Gorillaz, was one of the weirdest soundtracks I've ever owned. Really. To capture the full effect, watch the movie first. "The Mothman Prophecies" is another strange one.
Crimson Tide is classic Hanz Zimmer. If you don't know who he is, watch "The Lion King", "Gladiator", "The Rock", or anything with some kind of Epic soundtrack.
I love Bagpipes. The Second Braveheart Album has them, and for that, it earns my respect. The first one is a great album as well. Freedom!!!
And while we're on a James Horner kick, "Willow" is another soundtrack worth listening to (but also very hard to find. It think it went out of print once or twice - that and Jerry Goldsmith's score for "The Shadow")
And for Videogames, you have to mention Final Fantasy VII. The best Videogame soundtrack ever created (with the Metal Gear Solid Series and Halo 2 Soundtracks in a really close second). I can listen to that any time of the day.
Audio: Show us the most embarrassing album in your collection.
Inspired by Jay.
Without a doubt, it has to be anything I have on my Ipod by Richard Cheese. Imagine your favorite music, only done in a lounge lizard style. Between "Down with the Sickness" (used in the Dawn of the Dead remake), and "Insane in the Brain", it's one of those albums I skip over if anyone can hear what I've listening to. :)
Video: Show us your TV crush.
Submitted by quornflour.
My TV Crush at the moment is Sara Ramirez, who plays Callie I. Torres O'Malley on Grey's Anatomy. She was also in the first Spider Man film and had a small part in "You've Got Mail". Oh, and she won a Tony Award for her role as the Lady of the Lake in "Spamalot" on Broadway.
My Runners Up would be Kate Walsh (Also from Grey's Anatomy), America Ferrera (From Ugly Betty) and "Cheat" host Kristin Holt, she's cute too.
Video: What was the first R-rated movie you saw (or were allowed to see)?
Submitted by Lisa.
My family wasn't really too restrictive when it came to movies. The only films we weren't really allowed to see were "The Howling", "Crusin'", and "The Exorcist". Other than that, we could watch just about anything.
I was going to say "Alien", because my Dad once invited my brother and I to see it with him on his Videodisc player (it had only came out in the movie about 3 years prior), but I was sick at the time, and passed out around the time the face hugger jumped on Kane's face. So, officially, the first R rated movie I saw, in it's entirety would probably be John Carpenter's "Escape from New York", which my Aunt took me to the movies to see. It had violence, cussin' and not a speck of nudity (though the idea of Adrianne Barbeau at the time was interesting). There were a few other films around that time that I was allowed to watch, but these are the ones that stand out. John Carpenter's "The Thing" and John Landis' "An American Werewolf in London". were also cool ones as well.
I so wanted to be like Snake Plissken when I grew up.
Video: Show us your favorite show, scene or movie that takes place in the future.
Blade Runner is the future the way I see it. Dark, technical and noirish. Cities are densely populated, there are tons of skycrapers throughout and communication's all over the place (even though we still don't know each other as well as we probably could). That and cars finally would fly. The only other movies that have interesting futures are "Serenity" (because let's face it, the world is governed by economics. Those who have the money influence and those without will have to fight for it) and "Alien" (because I can see a major corporation forfeiting the lives of a few workers just to get their hands on a acid-for-blood bio weapon - "Think of all the good we can do with it!", as Bishop said). "Minority Report" also gets a thumbs up here as well. You'll never see a Star Trek future. Humanity will probably never get past all of their issues to even reach that point (Hell, we can hardly travel past the moon at this point though I think there's still hope for Humanity on a whole). While Star Wars is dreamy and the thought of wielding both the Force and a Double Bladed Lightsaber is the bees knees, it'll probably stay as Science Fiction. Either way, if it's got something to do with a probable Future, Phillip K. Dick or Robert Heinlein probably already wrote about it. :)
Video: Show us a TV series you own or watched on DVD.
I was going to choose "Firefly", as that's really one of the most coveted shows out there (I still think that Spielberg and Lucas should consider putting Nathan Fillion in as a new Indy when Harrison Ford chooses to retire), but then I remembered that I also have the Carnivale set (though I still have to get the 2nd Season). This was an awesome show. It took a while for it to rev up, but when it did, it was the watercooler show for a while.
Book: Show us a book you started reading but never finished.
I love the book, I do, but damn, it's so very strange.
