So I'm watching "The Invisible" on Starz, and I recognize Justin Chatwin as the guy from War of the Worlds (who

somehow lived through the whole mess when his character should have died). But the real bad guy of The Invisible is this guy in the jacket. I'm sitting here and thinking..."I've seen that look somewhere...not sure where, but somewhere." Maybe it's the eyes or nose structure, but he had this weird sense of curiousity to him.

It turns out that he's the vampire guy, Nick, from CBS' Moonlight. I thought he looked familiar. Grow the hair out and then shave the beard, still the same fellow.

A Very Scary Situation.

In about 3 Hours, The Rangers will be playing one of the most important games of the season. Last Night, Philadelphia secured a win in Overtime, which ties them with us. If we lose this game today, they will have a very good chance of leapfrogging over us and pushing us out.

We have to win this game, in regulation. Let me say that again. We have to win this game, in regulation.

The odds are stacked against us. We’re playing in Pittsburgh, which means that the not only do we not have our home ice and fans, but considering that on the East Coast, the Rangers are somewhat hated by the league (we have the resources to buy big name players, so it’s essentially believed that we “buy” our way into getting into the Playoffs) expect to see our players get a lot of time in the penalty box for the strangest of calls. Add to this the coverage on NBC and that they once again get to showcase Sidney Crosby, it would all make sense if it played out into their favor.

Then again, it’s up to the Blueshirts to just get it done. Play a crisp penalty free game. Drive to the net and pepper it with shots. Don’t waste time on the power play but have your defensemen ready to drop back down to the defensive zone if there’s a bad turnover. Don’t let Malik play! ☺

Here’s the setup:

We are in 6th place.

A win in regulation gives us 93 points and vaults us into 5th Place, over Ottawa, who lost yesterday. While this would tie us with the Devils by points, they have more wins than we do right now. They keep 4th, we hold fifth.

An Overtime win gives the same result, save that we would also be giving Pittsburgh a point, pushing them further away from us.

An Overtime Loss keeps us where we currently are gives the Flyers, Bruins a chance to leapfrog over us, pushing us down to 7th or even 8th place.

Now, Washington isn’t a factor in this just yet. If the Capitals manage to win their next two games in regulation, they will advance to the head of their Division. This will also automatically have them switch places with the Carolina Hurricanes, and taking the 3rd place spot. That would be a fantastic stroke of luck for them. Perhaps not for us.

On the West, the Sharks (the only team I pay attention to out there) are already in, so there’s little to do but to wait for the Playoffs to start for them.

Either way, we gotta get this win! Let’s go Rangers!!!!

Philadelphia Again

Okay, here's what we have:

- Montreal's taken first place with about 96 points. I don't see us catching up to that in the near future. That doesn't mean we still can't get the Atlantic.

-The Penguins are on a roll. Forget about Marty and the Devils...these are the guys to worry about right now, especially since we play then twice before the season ends.

-Gomez will be out with sore ribs and is day to day. According to Undisputed, Mara will be back, but wearing a face shield? Haven't confirmed that one yet. This presents some problems. After finally finding a set of lines that work, Renney's gone back to shuffling again.

If Philly wins this one, they will be tied with us for 6th. If we win, I believe it may vault us to 5th.

Though I missed the game, The Blueshirts pulled off a great win against the Pens, putting us within 5 points of the Devils for that 1st Place / Home Ice Advantage spot. Luckily for us, we just happen to be playing the Devils tonight, so if we can secure this win, it'll hold them off a bit. They have one game in hand on us, which means that even if we won every game from here on in, they could still beat us in points if they do the same (including that extra game).

With Sean Avery's goals last night, Sather really needs to consider renewing the guy's contract. He's producing (which is a lot more than I can say about our Cap'n right now) and if he keeps that up, we'll probably beg him to stay.

The game is tonight at 7 at The Rock in Jersey.

Devils vs. Canadiens tonight.

Thanks go out to Scott Gomez for securing that shootout goal. I wasn't even aware the game was over (and neither did he, apparently), but I'm happy we won. That's what about 13 games where we've put points up? I'm not sure of the stat that's been recorded, but I'll confirm it later.

In other news (or what I've read in the Daily News or saw on MSG, it looks like Sean Avery's gotten himself into more trouble after supposedly throwing a water bottle into the stands. According to a friend, he met with the wet family (who complained) and gave them one of his sticks. They accepted it as an apology, but the league has handed down a fine. The amount? Don't know yet.

Tonight, the New Jersey Devils will be playing against the Montreal Canadiens. Although either team walking away with a win would be bad for us, it's the Habs we want to root for. It'll give us some time to play catch up when we finally play later in the week.

Remember, the immediate goal is Home Ice Advantage, so it's Go Habs Go (for now anyway).

Rangers / Sabres

Tonight we play against the Sabres, who are in the running as much as we are. As with every game here on in, we need as many points as we can get. On top of that, it wouldn't hurt if the Devils and Penguins lost a few during our pursuit of 1st place.

The big key to this game is to avoid the Penalty Box (if we can), and to come out with a ferocious start. As this is being written on the train ride home, I have missed the first period and can only hope that when I turn on the game, the Blueshirts are ahead.

Against the Bruins at 2:30.

Today, we're up against the Bruins, who have beat us in the last three times we've met up. Right now, we're standing in 7th place. A win here should put us into 6th, unless Boston manages to beat us, which would actually push us back a bit.
